Conversations with Natalie !

Hi, I'm Maëva and for me it's always a pleasure to speak with Natalie ! Every week we speak a loooong time together about our week and the life in France and in California.

This weekend we compared our schedule and apparently the french students have one more important than the american students. For example in Bordeaux, we go to school, in general, from 8am to 6pm and we don't choose our lessons !

The campus is also totally different. In California your buildings are enormous and the environment seems very cleaned and sunny whereas in France it's pouring. We have a semester system so our exams are in december, just before christmas holidays. The cost of the studies is different too, Natalie explained me it's around 15000$ for one year and "only" 800€ for ENSCBP and if you're scholarship student you don't pay.

Natalie sent me photos of the beach, it's really beautiful and you're really lucky because there is always sun and good weather ! It looks like Nice, a city in south of France, with oceanfront buildings and there is more sun in this part of France. For example, the last weekend, some people could swim in the Mediterranean sea (according to the TV news).

This Monday was the "armistice" and Natalie said me that in the end of november there is Thanksgiving in America. Tradition is to eat cornucopia of vegetables and the famous turkey. This moment of the conversation was very funny because she told me "On mange de la Turquie."... and it's only a mistake but Turquie in french is the country, Turkey, and the turkey is "dinde".

Have a good week !

  1. That's very funny that Maeva thinks it's always pouring in Bordeaux!! Bordeaux has a temperate climate which is mainly mild but can get quite wet.

Also interesting about the idea about being able to choose your courses or not.
A graduate school in France is very different to the general university system - which of course also exists in France
